 Prelims fiasco

ITANAGAR, Nov 28: The controversy surrounding the Preliminary examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission on Sunday does not seem to die down anytime soon.

On Tuesday, aspirants who took the tests in various subjects approached the Commission to place their grievances regarding the ‘mistakes’ committed by the Commission in the question papers.

Speaking to media, an aspirant having Public Administration as optional subject claimed that out of the 125 questions, 55 were directly copy pasted from Pakistan Civil Service (PCS) paper.  Moreover the questions are also not from syllabus, he added.

‘The blunder has been committed. So if the Commission is not in a position to reconduct the examination then cut-off mark  for qualifying into the Mains should be brought down to an acceptable figure,’ said another aspirant.

Expressing resentment over the blunder, aspirants of Sociology subject added that 90 percent of their questions have been also directly collected from a website called ‘sociologydiscussion.com’, a kind of discussion forum.

Another claimed that few questions in General Studies paper had no correct answers in the given options. ‘Moreover question papers distributed in the hall were without seal,’ he added.

In light of the commotion, the Commission while accepting the mistake assured to look into the matter and examine the whole situation.

On November 26 last, a record 22599 aspirants took the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination- 2017 (prelims) test for a total of 105 posts in designated centers across the state.
