WESHI/ SEPPA, Aug 17: About 9 Kilometers away from the district headquarter Seppa, East Kameng, people of Weshi Village were struggling for potable water since the inception of the village in early 1990s. However, on August 16,  sounds of  traditional greetings filled the air of the village ,as the water treatment plant  began to provide  potable water  to the villagers.
Local representative, Seppa West Mama Natung inaugurated the water treatment plant amidst the villagers and other official from the concerned department. Elated with the development villagers headed by All Weshi Youth Welfare Society (AWYWS) erected welcome arches all over the village and organized community feast to mark the occasion.
“For the last many years we have been struggling for water and have to walk many kilometers or have to depend on natural streams for daily use of water,” informed a native of Rai Weshi.  Indeed,  it is like an Independence Day gift to the  village, Rai added.
“Water connectivity was a long pending demand of the villagers and now within stipulated time frame concerned department has completed the project which is commendable,” said MLA Seppa West, Mama Natung while speaking to this reporter. He also added that at least 260 households will get benefits from the water plant besides Weshi village.
When asked about the project, the MLA informed that the project was sanctioned in 2017 under State Annual Development Agenda (SADA) with Rs 40 lakh as its sanctioned amount. 
While responding to a query, MLA said the ideology of BJP government is to confer development to  the last man standing and so his  motive is also to confer all the basic amenities to his people and constituency within 2019. Most of the villages are now connected with roads and electricity as well as water supply, however only three villages are left out for electrification. Fund has been already sanctioned for electrification of the three villages and within few days’ work will be start for the same, he assured.
Meanwhile, in a village outreach programme held on August 16 at Weshi Village, Natung has also assured to initiate mechanism to connect Weshi-II village to Weshi –I with road and allotted Rs 15 lakh for construction CC Steps, culvert and waiting shed.
