ROING, Oct 14: Following a recent tiger sighting on the Roing–Anini road, the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division of the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department has issued a public advisory urging residents, tourists and commuters to exercise extreme caution while travelling along the route.
According to the advisory issued by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division, the tiger was sighted on October 14, along the stretch between kilometre 19 and kilometre 23 of the Roing–Anini road.
In view of the potential risk to public safety, the Forest Department has imposed a strict prohibition on two-wheeler travel along the specified stretch, particularly during early morning, evening and night hours.
The advisory also directs commuters and visitors to avoid unnecessary halts, sightseeing, picnic and loitering in the affected area. Travellers have been instructed to keep their vehicle windows closed and refrain from stepping out of their vehicles while passing through the stretch.
The department has further cautioned people against entering neighbouring forest areas for trekking or collecting minor forest produce, emphasising the need to follow existing guidelines on human-wildlife conflict management, particularly those concerning tiger movement in the region.
The Forest Department has appealed to the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the department and district authorities to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.
The Forest Department has urged everyone travelling on the Roing–Anini road to strictly comply with the instructions until further guidance is issued.
In February this year, Head Constable Chikseng Manpung of the Arunachal Pradesh Police was killed in a tiger attack while riding his motorcycle along the Mayudia stretch of the Roing-Anini Road in Lower Dibang Valley district.
