PASIGHAT, Aug 6: Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak today reviewed various development and challenges being faced by school authorities in a coordination meeting held at the DC’s conference hall. The meeting was also attended by SP Prashant Gautam, ADC (HQ) Tatdo Borang, DDSE J Yirang, principals, headmasters and HoDs. Many schools were adopted by the officials.

While stressing on the importance of quality education, DC Tatak called for community participation to overcome the hurdles and asked the officers to involve themselves in adopting schools in their respective localities. “We have to ensure that our concerted efforts and dedications bring some visible changes, leading society towards improvement of education scenario of the district,” he said.
There would be no extra burden for the mentors, opined the DC adding that adoption of a school should not merely be restricted to few inspections but should rather be targeted towards overall development of the school. Tatak pointed out that various ongoing rural and urban welfare schemes/projects running in the district and small issues like restoration of electricity, water supply, maintenance of toilets, approach roads to schools etc could be taken up by the officers as mentors with the help of their colleague officers making all schools “students-friendly”.

“There are very learned and experienced teachers in schools and they have full right to enjoy academic freedom in the discharge of professional duties but valuable suggestions and ideas of officers would give them extra courage and guidance to the school authorities. Healthy criticism has always been a key for improvement as we always learn from our mistakes and shortcomings,” asserted the DC.
