ITANAGAR, Mar 12: A  two-day Indian council of social science research (ICSSR) sponsored national seminar on the theme “cultural heritage of north-east India” was held at Dera Natung Government College on March 10-11 last.

Inaugurating the seminar, Vice-Chancellor of RGU, Prof. Tamo Mibang while stressing on participation of students and faculty members, said that North-East India has vast scope for research and the academic community should explore the area.

Earlier, Principal In-charge Kumar Tok welcomed the delegates from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.

Prof. AK Thakur, HoD, Dept. of History, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong in his Keynote address highlighted the manner in which cultural heritage of  society is preserved and passed on from generation to generation. He also pointed out the recent man-made crisis as stumbling blocks in preservation of cultural heritage.

There were four technical sessions under which as many as 35 papers were presented on different aspects of the theme.
