ITANAGAR, Mar 26: Taking serious note of the announcement made by T Muivah, the General Secretary of NSCN (IM) faction on March 21 last that the framework agreement has paved the way for a Greater Nagalim by integration of Naga-inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has termed the announcement as disturbing and evoking the sentiments of the indigenous people of the state.

Asserting that the people of Arunachal Pradesh understand the Naga people's sentiment and would applaud for peaceful agreement and early solutions with the Indian government, the union however said that it is inconceivable to accept any solutions at the cost of the people and land of Arunachal Pradesh.

Highlighting that the eastern districts especially Tirap, Changlang and Longding have suffered enough miseries in the past, it said peace and tranquillity of the districts is at stake till today.

‘These districts are part and parcel of the state and the indigenous population owns every inch of the land. We cannot accept any solution which hampers the integrity of the land and people of Arunachal Pradesh,’ said AAPSU president Hawa Bagang in a press release.

While positively noting the clarification by a Home Ministry spokesperson who has termed such report as "erroneous" and that no such decision or agreement has been undertaken by the Government of India, the AAPSU has strongly appealed the Centre to understand the sentiments and safeguard the interest of Arunachal Pradesh.

AAPSU has also urged the NSCN (IM) faction to respect the sentiments of the Arunachalee people on humanitarian grounds.
