 ITANAGAR, Jul 26:The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) launched its state-wide sanitation and hygiene awareness campaign with the theme “Be clean Be healthy” at Government Higher Secondary School, Itanagar today. The campaign was flagged off by Superintendent of Police, Capital, Harsh Vardhan amidst a huge gathering of students, teachers, NESO and AAPSU executive members including university students.

Highlighting the objectives of the campaign, General Secretary Tobom Dai impressed upon the students the need for personal hygiene.

Taking note of the water shortage, President Hawa Bagang informed the gathering that the Union will apprise the government to solve water scarcity in the school. He also advised the school committee to initiate social service for the students in the school campus.

The SP in his speech drew the attention of the students towards social goals and need for inculcating social understanding.

He cited about the social attitude of the Japanese fans and team of the recent FIFA world cup at Russia where the Japanese fans had cleaned the stadium after every match by themselves. He also appreciated the AAPSU for taking up the movement of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, which is one of the core goals of the Indian government.

The Union also handed over water filters, dustbins and other sanitation articles for the school, which was received by the School Vice Principal.

As part of the flag off ceremony the executive members along with the school community cleaned the surrounding and school toilets.
