ITANAGAR, Apr 24: Sending out a loud and clear message to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), hundreds of members including well-wishers, former leaders of the apex students body of the state, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) took to the streets to protest against China's repeated illegitimate claim over Arunachal Pradesh and its recent move to "standardise" official names of six places in the frontier state on Monday.

Participants holding placards and banners shouted slogans like vande- mataram, Bharat mata ki jay in a show of allegiance while resorting to ‘anti-China’ slogans and burning the effigy of Chinese President Xi Jinping .

‘Arunachal is an integral part of India. This frontier state was never part of China nor do we want to be ruled by China, we are Indians and we will remain Indians,’ said President AAPSU Hawa Bagang. While slamming China for interfering in the internal matters of India, he said ‘Arunachalees are ready for any consequence but will never cede an inch of our land to China. Though  our facial features are same  but there are other countries  like Korea, Japan ,Indonesia  etc who have mongoloid  features  but they are not Chinese  nor are we,’ stated Bagang.

Taking strong expectation on renaming of six places in Arunachal in Chinese language, Bagang termed it an immature move by the Chinese. ‘Moreover, neither Chinese language is used nor spoken in Arunachal, we are hardcore Indians and  Hindi speaking people of India,’ he asserted.

However, the AAPSU has urged both the state and the central governments to address the poor developmental activities in border areas. ‘On the other side of the border, China has sound infrastructure in comparison to Indian, so the Centre needs to develop  border areas from road communication to air connectivity  as well as equip our soldiers guarding the borders,’ added Bagang.

Taking a dig at the state government, AAPSU also voiced that since the inception of the frontier state, leaders have failed to guide the state to a strong position. There are hundreds of problems related to refugees, stapled visa and international boundary but the state government has never heeded to these issues seriously, it said.

Joining the resentment against China, General Secretary AAPSU, Tobom Dai also slammed the Chinese authority for interfering in the internal matters of India and illegally claiming Arunachal as its territory. ‘We are part and parcel of India and China has no right to claim even an inch of our land,’ he added.
