ITANAGAR, Dec 18: A delegation of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) led by President Hawa Bagang and General Secretary Tobom Dai called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu today at his official chamber and submitted a reminder cum memorandum of its demands. During the meeting, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal was also present.

The union reminded the government for immediate implementation of All Party Meeting outcomes on the Chakma-Hajong refugee issue.

AAPSU further demanded for infrastructure development and manpower for Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has been mired in controversies and is failing to gain public confidence and hampering the career of thousands of aspirants in the State. Such unwanted incidents have become a great impediment and has affected the calendar and smooth function of the Commission as well, the Union said urging the government to allocate grants for infrastructure developments and manpower for the smooth functioning of the Commission. It also demanded for full-fledged functioning of Border Affairs Department.

While giving a patient hearing to the important points put forth by the AAPSU, the Chief Minister agreed to initiate necessary measures on all genuine demands. However, while expressing serious concerns to the demand regarding non-enhancement of the retirement age of the government employees which shall have a direct bearing on the youths of the state, the Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the Chief Secretary to have a separate sitting with the AAPSU on the subject matter within stipulated time.
