BANDERDEWA, Aug 19: The body of a 7-year old girl (non-APST) has been found under mysterious circumstances in Chessa forest area, Papum Pare district.
‘Today, around 8:30 am, information was received that a dead body has been found in Chessa area on Arunachal side. It was found to be of a 7-yearold girl, who was missing since yesterday from Assam side,’ informed Superintendent of Police, M Harshvardhan.
The SP further added that Itanagar police in coordination with Lakhimpur, Assam police carried out all the legal proceedings and a case has been registered in Assam. “However, we will provide all possible assistance to solve the case at the earliest,” assured the SP.
As per family members, the 7-year old was supposed to return home after School on August 18 but she didn’t reach home. The family then lodged a missing complaint in Chessa Police outpost. However, she was found dead in a mysterious condition with her school bag near the body.
Reacting to the incident, hundreds of villagers started assembling near the police outpost and also pelted stones on Chessa police outpost. The situation was brought under control after Vardhan and SP Lakhimpur reached the spot and jointly intervened to reduce tension in the area.
