PASIGHAT Apr 12:  As an initiative to check growing influx of labourers from other states and foreign land into Pasighat in alarming rate despite standing order of the district administration, the All Bogong Students’ Union (E) and All Rani Students’ Union members have identified four persons without ILP and handed them over to the police today.

In a press statement this evening, the ABSU (E) headed by Lungkang Ering has said that, the department of Urban Development was engaging the labourers without ILP. Ering appealed all the departments not to engage any labourers without proper ILP. “Our drive is in continuation of last year’s drive where we had detected several violators of ILP which also poses great threat to the safety and security of the genuine citizens and locals of Pasighat and East Siang as a whole”, added Lungkang Ering who also revealed that, he was offered a sum of Rs. 2500 by one of the labourer not to complain to the police.

The ABSU (E) and ARSI have also raised deep concern over heavy influx of Bangladeshi migrants into Pasighat and its vicinities engaged by local landlords as tenants in their vast land. The unions have also appealed the district administration and police led by DC and SP respectively to carry out an ‘Operation Flash Out’ drive of illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

When concern police officer at Pasighat PS was contacted to confirm the arrests, Sub-Inspector Nani Nama informed that, 4 persons identified without ILP by student unions were booked under Sec. 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 and they will be produced before magistrate.
