The National Highway 13 with its resurfaced roads has become a playground for over speeding and in such incident, three youths were killed due to reckless driving across Tezu township.
While Alumso Tindiya (24) died after hitting an electric pole near VKV Tezu on May 11 last; On May 17 last two teenagers from Lower Dibang Valley met with a head-on collision with a truck at Dangre Baba point. Toko Pertin (19) who was riding the motorcycle died on the spot while Oyi Yao (16) the pillion rider who was seriously injured succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam.
Investigating officer allege that both the mishaps occurred due to reckless driving and gross violation of traffic rules. In both cases, the riders and pillion rider were without helmet and both the motorbikes were without registration number plates, he said.
A citizen in the state of anonymity said good road has come up due to which high speed and rash driving has become a common scene resulting in regular accidents.
The law enforcing agency need to contain the road casualties by building speed breakers at different pockets and mobilizing traffic police for frequent checks to avoid valuable loss of lives, he suggested.
