ITANAGAR, Dec 12:All Kra Daadi District Student Union (AKDDSU) on Tuesday announced a12-hour district bandh on December 20 next in protest against the state government’s failure to address its genuine demands relating to development of the newly created district.
In a press conference, AKDDSU President, Gora Rikham termed the bandh call as a way to draw attention of the government towards the plight of people of the district, who are deprived of every development schemes and packages like SADA, SIDF etc since last many years.
“While other newly created districts like Siang, Namsai and Longding have been provided with all required infrastructure and funds, the government is intentionally neglecting the needs of the people of the Kra-Daadi,” alleged Rikham.
Reminding the CM about his promise to bring all required development including road connectivity to the district during his visit to Tali on October 30 last, Rikham urged him (CM)not to offer lip service only, but immediately initiate action to accelerate the development works.
He further alleged that people are suffering because the local MLA is in the opposition party and the government is neglecting the area due to political indifference.
The union urged the CM to look above political agenda when it comes to development of the people and sought equal distribution of development package and other welfare schemes at par with other districts for speedy development.
Further the union also expressed shock over the alleged “dog” remark by the Chief Minister against their local MLA, Takam Pario during the last assembly session. “We did not expect such behaviour from a man, who is holding the state’s most prestigious post” the union said.
The union has been demanding immediate construction of Government Degree College at Palin and District hospital at Palin with two ambulances and one mortuary, allocation of funds for additional infrastructure at Government Secondary and Higher schools respectively at Tali and Palin etc
