ITANAGAR, Mar 7: Arunachal Pradesh government would soon appoint 101 circle officers (COs) to fill up vacancies, Chief Minister Pema Khandu informed the Assembly today.

New posts of COs were created following creation of new districts and these posts, along with vacant ones, would be filled up soon, Khandu said in reply to a question of PPA MLA Tirong Aboh in the Zero Hour.

Aboh questioned about effective administration in insurgency affected Lazu and Dadam circle in Tirap district where there is no COs.

To another question of Aboh, Home Minister Kumar Waii said that against sanctioned strength of 6060 civil police, only 3330 were posted along with 188 IRBn personnel, four CRPF companies and 21 special branch personnel in the district.

“We have requested the Centre to sanction three more battalions of IRBn. The state has a total of 13,000 police against requirement of 30,000 causing shortage,” Waii said New posts would be created by the state government within one or two months, he said.
