District Level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy in East Siang concludes

PASIGHAT, May10:The three-day district level Hangpan Dada memorial trophy for Football and Volleyball for East Siang has concluded today, with the finals and award ceremony held here at the 

IGJ Govt. Hr.Sec. School Playground. 

Chief Guest, Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, in his address to the players called for displaying their 
sporting skills and flair in such a prestigious arena as a cohesive team, while also maintaining the 
spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, which he said is the true mark of a sportsperson.

‘Keep up the zeal and enthusiasm to excel in sports and various areas of life,’ he further exhorted.

Lauding the efforts of the Government of India and State Government for promoting sporting culture at grassroots level, the Lok Sabha MP, said the potential of the youth particularly in rural areas can be tapped through such efforts.

Earlier, Guest of Honour, President ABK (Women Wing) Y Taga Burang , also exhorted the players and youth to keep away from drugs and other harmful intoxicants for good health and physical fitness and to be positive role models for the young generation. ‘Make your district proud,’ she said terming them as ambassadors of the district at the state level.

 DC Tamiyo Tatak, ADC T. Borang , President District Olympic Association East Siang,  Tamat Gamoh among others witnessed the finals and also gave away prizes to the winning and runners up teams including individual winners of various categories.
While in football men’s, 39th Mebo won the highly interesting final match, with the 38th Pasighat team taking up the runners up place. In Football Women’s, the team from 37th Pasighat West defeated 38th Pasighat East. It was also a proud moment for Olik Tayeng from 39th Mebo and Minam Taki, who were declared the best players in men and women category respectively.

In Volleyball for Men, 36th Nari-Koyu scored over 38th Pasighat East. In Women category 38th Pasighat East was the winning team over its rival team 37th Pasighat West. Yimo Tacha of 36th Nari-Koyu and Ms. Nani Ankha from 38th Pasighat West were also proud winners under the best player category for Volley Men and Women respectively.

Earlier, District Sports Officer and Organising Secretary HDMT 2016-17, Nada Apa in his welcome address also presented 
a brief report of the memorial trophy.
