AALO, Mar 4: A two-day District Level Sensitization Training Programme on Social Audit under MORD flagship programmes organised by the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR) concluded on Wednesday here at the Conference Hall of DC office.
Addressing the meeting which was attended by all ZPMs, BDOs, JEs, technical persons and field functionaries of West Siang district, Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi exhorted them to take the training seriously as it deals with poverty alleviation programmes, the implementation of which requires transparency and accountability. West Siang ZPC Babom Romin stressed on preparing job cards for every household in the district and implementation of schemes meant for the rural people in a transparent manner. Assistant Director, SIRD and Course Director S.W Bagang dwelt at length on Pre-RTI era activities, growth and institutionalisation of Social Audit, its need, importance and rules applicable while implementing schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY etc. Detailing the subject of social audit through a PowerPoint Presentation, he urged the participants to disseminate the information gathered from the training at Sub-Divisional, Circle and Gram Sabha levels for greater transparency and accountability. The ZPMs, DDOs and field functionaries highlighted the issues which create obstacles in their functioning.
Document verification and field exercises at the nearby BDO office, presentation of findings and mock Social Audit at Gram Sabha by the participants were parts of the training. DIPRO
