Potin, May 5: In a significant decision aimed at supplementing the state’s Covid-19 fightback efforts, a consultative meeting chaired by Home & Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bamang Felix on Tuesday decided that a zonal check gate will be established at the tourist gate, near Potin.
Besides Agriculture Minister Er. Tage Taki and Education Minister Er. Taba Tedir, DCs, SPs and DMOs of Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Kra Daadi and Kurung Kurmey districts attended the meeting.
“Our battle with Covid-19 is a long one and we have to learn to live with it and adopt measures to prevent infection. A well-fortified check gate at Potin, which is the gateway to the above districts carved out of erstwhile undivided Subansiri will be a concrete step towards controlling spread of the virus in the area,” Felix said while addressing the officers.
“With the government’s decision to bring back our stranded brothers and sisters from across the country, we will have to be more vigilant, ensure proper screening and take measures so that there are no leakages through any check gate,” Home Minister added while exhorting the DCs, SPs and DMOs to work out the modalities for arranging manpower to be deployed in this proposed check gate. He further suggested constituting flying squads to ensure truck drivers and handymen carrying essential goods are restricted to their trucks and are checked from wandering around.
“All our districts will be safe, if this gate is made functional and dedicatedly manned,” Felix said, assuring all assistance to make it functional. Agriculture and Education Ministers also assured to provide assistance and directed the ADC, Yachuli who would be the Coordination Secretary for the gate to functionalise it before the end of lockdown 3.0. A committee headed by Tedir, who is also the local MLA was constituted on the spot to oversee construction and installation of basic essential services at the check gate.
It was decided to allow passage of trucks carrying LPG and gravel/sand from the crushers within Kimin through Potin after disinfection. Felix also donated Rs 3 lakh for initial mobilisation of the project. DIPRO
