ZIRO, Sep 24: The second edition of the Ziro Literary Festival which is scheduled to be held on September 26-27 next will focus on the importance of local stories and building of creative thoughts.
With Saint Claret College being the venue, the festival will have diverse voices from an eclectic panel of writers, poets, filmmakers, artists, artpreneurs and activists. Man Booker Prize shortlisted author, Jeet Thayil, Sahitya Akademi award winner Dr Rita Chowdhury, one of India's finest storytellers Mitra Phukan are amongst the many names that will be at the festival. The free and open-to-all festival promotes inter-cultural exchanges, dialogue, skill-sharing and building. It will be inaugurated by Commissioner ICDS, Department of Women & Child, Government of Maharashtra, Indra Mallo and Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries & Veterinary, Government of Arunachal Pradesh Er Tage Taki will be delivering the closing remarks. Attendees at the festival can participate in various outcome-based workshops and internationally renowned artists like Minam Apang and Madhavi Gore will conduct a two-day Art Workshop. Graphic novelist and author Parismita Singh will work on a two-day Graphic Storytelling workshop, artist-photographer Shiv Ahuja and journalist Nandini Nair are collaborating on a three-day Writing and Zine-Making Workshop and atmospheric chemist Dr Anoop Mahajan will conduct a Climate Change Talk and Interactive Workshop. Apart from this, the festival will also hold the screening of Rima Das's award-winning film Village Rockstars. Raghavendra Madhu's first book of poetry, ‘Stick No Bills’ will be released at the festival and the poetry session on 27th will include Dibyajyoti Sarma and Rapper Karma.
ZLF which is supported by the Department of Youth Affairs, GoAP is held over two days and timed to coincide with Ziro Festival of Music which creates a perfect platform for artists and thinkers to come together at the iconic Ziro Valley in Arunachal.
