ITANAGAR, Jan 20:  The newly elected capital mayor Tame Phassang has said there will be no room for corruption in the functioning of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC).
Phassang asserted his anti-corruption stand today while addressing the first interaction meeting of the newly elected corporators of the IMC, its officials, District Administration, Police, Magistrate and MLAs here at the DK Convention Hall. “Following the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu, corruption in any form in the IMC will not be tolerated,” he said. Delivering his keynote address, the mayor said that a good team can achieve any goal and we all should work as Team Itanagar and Team IMC for the next five years for a clean and green capital. “No personal projects would be entertained, in fact only those beneficial for denizens will be taken up,” he added.
“To be good leaders we shouldn’t work as businessmen, indeed, you cannot be a businessman and a leader simultaneously,” Phassang said while cautioning the corporators and officials to refrain from such tactics. Stating that Itanagar is the face of the state, he urged the senior officials of the IMC, DA and Police to share ideas and experiences to overcome all hurdles. An environment of equality, peace and harmony should be our agenda, and if each one of us maintain this mantra, Itanagar definitely would be one of the best capitals in the country, the mayor contended.
