ITANAGAR, Feb 12: A total of 80 candidates belonging to the Puroik Community were imparted employable skill development training by the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through its empanelled training providers on sponsorship by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, under Livelihood Generation Activities for the Puroik youth. This programme has been initiated by the government for the exclusive benefit of the Puroik community who reside in far-flung backward areas belonging to East Kameng, Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi Districts, so as to earn their livelihood through wage or self-employment.
The candidates were imparted training in chauffeur /taxi driver, domestic data entry operator, self employed tailor and assistant electrician by three empanelled Training Providers namely Nurture Employability & Economic Development Society (NEEDS), Valuer Fabtex Pvt. Ltd and Reflexion Digital Pvt Ltd.
Director, Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Subu Tabin today gave away course completion certificates to 22 youth who were trained as domestic data entry operator at Itanagar.  He advised the youth to be hardworking and equip themselves with ‘Skill & Knowledge’ so that they become employable and said that further upskilling training shall be provided to the willing candidates through various ongoing schemes.
Assistant Director, SD&E, Jumbom Riba gave the course completion certificate to 20 youths at Nirjuli, who were trained in chauffeur /taxi driver. In his address, he said that the government is giving impetus to skill development and his department has been consistently committed for the upliftment of youth of the state through market-oriented skill trainings which can yield a better livelihood.
The programme was also attended by Anil Puroik, Information Publicity Secretary, All Puroik Welfare Society who thanked the Department for organising the skill programme for the Puroik community and asked the youths to take maximum benefit of the government programme and stand on their feet.
