Bhalukpong, May 19: The Director of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE), Sibu Passing, graced the certification ceremony as the chief guest at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), Bhalukpong. The ceremony marked the successful completion of intensive training programs in Adventure Travel Guide and Tour Guide under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana-Vibrant Village Program (PMKVY-VVP) Convergence Project.
The project, funded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, provided free training, certification, food, and accommodation to 111 youth from across Arunachal Pradesh. The Department of SDE also facilitated a track suit and a couple of T-shirts to participants under the Chief Minister Yuva Kaushal Yojana, a state-sponsored scheme.
The residential training program, conducted in collaboration with NIMAS, aimed to promote entrepreneurship, enhance self-employment, and create local opportunities. The youth underwent rigorous training in basic adventure sports and activities like rafting, trekking, and mountaineering, gaining hands-on experience in first aid and safety, navigation, hospitality, and survival.
During the ceremony, Captain Jagat Ram, SM (Retd), Incharge officer for Skills-NIMAS Bhalukpong, briefed about the training program and hosted the certification ceremony. The Director-SDE, addressing the participants emphasised the importance of acquiring necessary skills alongside formal education and highlighted the growing potential of the tourism and adventure sectors. The Consultant of the Department shared his knowledge to trained Youth on feasible Entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities and briefed the value of PMKVY certification, significance and relativity of Skills, Skill India Program, Academic Bank of Credits under the New Education Policy 2020.
