ITANAGAR, Dec 3: The Save Arunachal Youth Association (SAYA) in a representation to the state government has demanded immediate cancellation of party tickets issued to 2 non-Arunachalees settled in Lower Lekang and Upper Lekang of Namsai district within Friday.
Addressing the media persons here at the Press Club on Thursday, SAYA President Likha Rajinik said the BJP has issued party tickets to 2 non-Arunachalees settled in Namsai district for the ensuing PR polls. While informing that Jugesh Taye and Bijoy Neog are contesting for the post of ZPM from Lower Lekang and Upper Lekang respectively, SAYA President questioned the rationality of allotting the tickets by the BJP.
He said it is a violation of the entire dimension of the Pachayati Raj elections, meant exclusively for the indigenous people of the state. Rajinik said if the demand remains unfulfilled, SAYA will launch a democratic movement for protection of indigenous rights in the state.
SAYA submitted the representation to the Chief Minister and State BJP President Biyuram Waghe demanding cancellation of the said party tickets. Earlier, BJP Namsai district unit in a circular has announced 6 ZPM candidates out of which Jugesh Taye and Bijoy Neog are non-Arunachalees and the rest Scheduled Tribes.
