AALO, Jul 15: In view of sudden spurt of Covid positive cases in Yomcha subdivision in West Siang district during the previous week, residents of the area after consultation with panchayat leaders, senior citizens, medical officers, government officials and stakeholders have decided to go for a weeklong lockdown starting from 5 am of July 16 to 6 pm of July 22.
As part of the self-lockdown, entry and exit of individuals and vehicles, to and from Yomcha except for emergency purposes will be completely restricted and all shops and business establishments will remain closed.
All offices will be allowed to function only up to 2 pm excluding those engaged in emergency and essential services and Covid infected persons currently under home quarantine will have to follow the prescribed norms. The Head GBs and GBs of the subdivision have been instructed to pass the message to the villagers for ensuring strict compliance. Chairpersons and Gram Panchayat members have also been apprised to make arrangements in their respective segments for making the lockdown successful.
The self-lockdown initiative was necessary given the fact that Yomcha has no medical facility to treat serious Covid patients and evacuation is also difficult during the prevailing monsoon due to countless road blockades. ADC Yomcha has appreciated the initiative of the civil society. DIPRO
