ITANAGAR, Mar 21: Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society like the previous years celebrated World Poetry Day in collaboration with Dera Natung Government College Itanagar on Tuesday. The celebration was attended by hundreds of students of DNGC and other colleges of the capital region held at DNGC auditorium. On the occasion, more than 20 students of DNGC recited their poems which was applauded by the audience. APLS members Dr. Jumyir Jini, Bengia Antra, Wanggo Socia, Biki Yader, Dr. Taro Sindik recited their poems.
A book of selected Hindi poems written by Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar winner Dr. Taro Sindik titled “Chayanit Kavitaye” was released by Principal DNGC Dr. M Q Khan, head of Hindi department, DNGC Dr. Joram Aniya Tana, Assistant Professor Nending Ommo and APLS General Secretary Mukul Pathak. It is the 3rd poetry book of Dr Sindik. In a well decorated manner students of DNGC prepared the stage for the programme, among which displaying some great poems written by few famous poets of the world and Arunachalee writers printed on paper was a big attraction for the budding writers. Principal of DNGC Dr. M Q Khan also read two poems, one in English and one in Hindi. 
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Khan appreciated the students who participated and presented their poems. He said that every person is a poet from the inside whether he/she writes or not, but one can’t escape from the poetic feelings they carry within. He also lauded APLS for taking literature to the masses constantly all over the state.
Earlier APLS general secretary Mukul Pathak gave a brief about World Poetry Day and its significance. He said that APLS is publishing a literary magazine regularly and from this year the Society will publish four volumes of the magazine ‘Prayas” every year. The students of the Physics department of the college also performed the opening song.
