Toru, May 31: Along with the rest of the country, the District Tobacco Control Cell ( DTCC) Yupia observed ‘World No Tobacco Day’ at the primary health centre, Toru on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by all the staff of the health centre, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, Gaon Buras and members of other organization of the village.
The DTCC led by Debia Shanti, District Programme Coordinator (NCD),NCD Cell Yupia sensitised the public on the ill effects of tobacco. She also encouraged the members  to collectively make the village a ‘Tobacco-free village’.
The day was also observed at all the Health and Wellness Centres across Papum Pare district. 
Khonsa: Non-communicable disease NCD  team, Tirap also organized the World No Tobacco Day. The event featured a compelling presentation by Hunwang Nokbi, a District Programme Coordinator of the NCD Branch. The presentation covered various essential aspects, including the introduction of tobacco and its harmful effects, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, and an overview of the recently implemented government regulations in India, such as the prohibition on the use and sale of e-cigarettes.
Further, Gape Nguba, a Psychiatric Social Worker, delivered an insightful speech on the mental health issues arising from smoking and provided valuable guidance on how to overcome them.
The program was attended by NCD team from DHS, Khonsa, inmates, doctors, health workers of Care Me Home De-addiction and rehabilitation centre, Charju and doctors and staff.
