ITANAGAR, Apr 10: The 267th birth anniversary of famous German physician Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founding father of homeopathy system of medicine, was celebrated by Donyi Polo Homeopathic Charitable Dispensary (DPHCD) in a brief function here today. Dr Hahnemann’s birthday is also observed as World Homoeopathy Day across the globe to celebrate the great contribution of homeopathy to the world of medicine.
Attending the function, Deputy Director of Health Services (AYUSH), Directorate of Health Services, Dr Dusu Laji, while citing the popularity of this system of medicine, said that started with a unit way back in 1980, the state at present has more than 125 Homeopathy units.
Though this system of medicine was founded in 1896 but in Arunachal Pradesh, the system was very new in comparison to other states. In Arunachal, the system was officially introduced way back in 1980 by then visionary CM Gegong Apang by opening a Homeopathic unit. As on date, the system has around 112 regular Homeopathy MOs and 98 OPDs are functioning across the State. Recently, 29 Health and Wellness Centres, which will be run by homeopathy, have been introduced that took the total count to 129, he said.
“So, you see the popularity of the system…but the thing is that we should be dedicated towards the system because everybody has to follow the principles and practices of homeopathy. You should be very proud to say that you are homeopath and you should practice the system,” he told the students present on the occasion.
Earlier, SMO in-charge Dr Animesh Mukherjee said that the Donyi Polo Homeopathic Dispensary was opened in 1983 under the guidance of former Chief Minister Gegong Apang and this is running smoothly with the help of Directorate of Health Services, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh.
At the start of the function, Dr Laji along with Dr Mukherjee lit a candle and cut the birthday cake in presence of the gathering that also included the staff of the Dispensary.
