ITANAGAR, Sep 29: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Hayat super speciality hospital, Guwahati in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Hospital, organized a ‘free heart check-up’ camp here on Wednesday.
A total of 138 patients availed the free heart check-up, and also consultation from heart specialists in a day-long camp which started at 9:30 am and concluded at 5 pm.
Ayaskanta Chakraborty, the Executive Director of Hayat Super Speciality Hospital, Guwahati, informed this in a press conference here at Press Club, Itanagar. He also informed that 15 including two children out of 138 patients were advised for further treatment.
“The purpose of the camp was to create awareness on heart disease and how to prevent it," he said adding that many deaths have been recorded which is a major concern for everyone of us.
Meanwhile, Dr Suraj Kumar Pradhan, MBBS, MS Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Hayat Super speciality Hospital, said the motive of observing the world heart day is to educate and encourage people to consume healthy food, involve in regular exercise and quit smoking so that one can keep their heart healthy and protect themselves from heart disease.
“We have observed that there are less heart patients among those residing in hilly areas due to their physical work and exercise," Dr Pradhan said.
