Itanagar, Jan 20: A workshop dealing with the Operational Guidelines of Jal Jeevan Mission was held today here at the Dorjee Khandu State Conventional Centre.
Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI M.K Sahoo was the resource person who explained the operational guidelines in details.
Minister PHE & WS etc Wangki Lowang highlighted the importance of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Arunachal Pradesh and exhorted the officers to be dedicated in their effort in providing FHTCs to every household by 2024. He also flagged the challenges facing the drinking water sector in the state in terms of drying up of sources, growth in population, natural calamities and wildlife interferences in some cases. He also expressed the need for strategies to improve civic sense to check wastage of water and impressed upon the officers to look out for possibilities of power generation through small turbines using pipe systems as penstock pipes at the WTPs.
Secretary PHE & WSD Rinchin Tashi advised the officers to take JJM as an opportunity and with missionary zeal and outlined the need to expedite the process of data collection, estimation, tendering and implementation. State Nodal Officer, JJM Er. Tomo Basar also presented the perspective, challenges and preparedness of the state vis-a-vis JJM.
The vision of Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide Functional Household Tap Connection ( FHTC) to every household in the country by 2024 where the Gram Panchayats and/or its sub-committees will have responsible roles to play through monitoring of works. These were also presented in detail through Power Point Presentation during the workshop. PHE & WSD PR
