ZIRO, Feb 22: A 5-day residential workshop titled ‘Application of GIS, Remote Sensing and GPS Technology in Forest Resource Management’ for the Forest Department personnel commenced today here at Saint Claret College organised by its Department of Geography in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forest, GoAP.
The workshop aims at giving hands-on training to the frontline personnel of the Forest Department and will include both theory and practical sessions on GIS, remote sensing and GPS technology. Personnel from the Forest Divisions of Aalo, Pasighat, Kamlang, Roing, Chimpu and Hapoli are participating in the workshop. The GIS RS lab of SCCZ will facilitate the lab sessions. The inaugural session began with a plantation drive of Phyllostachys Edulis ‘Moso’ bamboo at the college campus wherein DFO, Hapoli Forest Division Abhinav Kumar was the Chief Guest. Principal Dr. Fr. Allwyn Mendoz exhorted the participants to take the best from the workshop to upgrade their skills.
Senior Scientist, IIRS, Dehradun Dr. Kunal Kumar Das and faculty from the Department of Geography are the Resource Persons.
