NAMSAI, Oct 10: Continuing its effort to encourage women in sports and to create awareness on the drug menace , Aishu Women Self Help Group of Adi Ningroo, Namsai district  organized a Women's football tournament on Sunday.
Circle Officer Namsai, Indira Thomong Riba who attended the inaugural event as chief guest appreciated the Aishu Development Society (ADS) for organizing the event to encourage women. 
Speaking on the drug menace, she expressed concern at youths indulging in drugs. The CO also assured to extend all possible support to the organizing committee to organise such events on a larger platform. President, ADS -Yachip Paron informed that since 2009, the Society has been organising the football tournament to encourage the women section.This tournament is to confer a platform for budding & enthusiastic  women players who have zeal for  sports, she said.
17 women teams from different district of Arunachal and Assam are participating in the event. Best players from the tournament will be selected to form a team that will represent at the State level tournament.
Namsai Satsang Women football team defeated Government Higer Secondary Lathao women team by 2-1 goals in the inaugural match.
