ITANAGAR, Oct 30: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) on Friday organized a one-day legal awareness webinar on the topics of domestic violence, mental health, drug abuse and alcoholism.
APSCW Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi highlighted the spike in domestic violence cases during lockdown and informed that approximately 1477 such cases had been registered all over the country.  While stating that the number of victims may rise as most of the victims do not seek legal help, she added that such abuses lead to behavioural disorders, thereby resulting in substance abuse. 
panel discussion, APSCW Legal Adviser Advocate Karmu Chotton spoke on the types of domestic violence and the relief measures available under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Resource Person Advocate Raknu Konya spoke on the powers and functions of police, protection officers and magistrates.
Clinical Psychologist Nabam Yeni, Psychiatrist Dr Magong Pagkam and APSCW Member Techi Hunmai also spoke on the occasion.
