ITANAGAR, Feb 27: In a tragic fire accident which occurred this morning at around 5.30 am in capital’s F&G Sector, a woman was charred to death.
The victim has been identified as Giogi Yager, around 40 years old. Besides the victim, the fire also left her husband Giogi Tanu with 15 per cent burn injuries who has been referred to a hospital outside the state for further treatment. 
Speaking to the reporters, Fire Station Officer K T Gambo informed that the fire might have spread from the hearth within the thatched house itself. The victim and the other members of the family were engaged in Nyokum Yullo celebration till about 4 am in the morning, he added. Giving the details of the tragedy, the Fire Station Officer informed that they couldn’t save the house from getting burnt completely as there was no approach road for the fire tenders to reach the spot and the lane leading to the area was also very narrow.
“However, we managed to contain the inferno from spreading to the nearby residences,” he said.
