TEZU, Apr 7: Although promises for better connectivity are doled out before every election,Vedagam village, the remotest polling station in the 44th Tezu – Sunpura Assembly Constituency continues to remain unreachable with trekking and hiring tractors still the only options for ferrying men and material.
Situated at a distance of 45 km from the headquarter of Lohit District, Vedagam has 57 voters. It does not have a motorable road yet and to reach here one has to cross Hazu, Paya, Veda and Tekhi streams.
Sector Magistrate & DRO J Rando shared his woes mentioning that during monsoon the village remains completely cut off making it impossible to reach. But now as the streams have dried up with knee deep water only at a few places, arriving at the village is comparatively easier. “From Bhekuliang we have to trek 12 km distance only and apprehending rain we have already hired tractors to transport men and material,” informed the Sector Magistrate. SDO and RO of 44th Tezu – Sunpura K Karmakar is also supervising and monitoring the preparation for smooth conduct of polls.
