TEZU, Oct 19: The newly appointed SP of Lohit, AK Singh while taking charge has affirmed that his main objective will be to ensure law and order for the peace-loving people of the district.
A 2013 batch IPS officer and a graduate in Chemical Technology, Singh has vowed to give his best as the head of district police. Talking about his new assignment, the SP said that despite shortage of manpower, his main focus will be on checking rampant cultivation and use of opium and other contrabands for which the district has earned a bad name, adding that streamlining the traffic system will also be the other top priority. “Valuable lives are being lost due to rising cases of motorcycle accidents where the youths under influence of alcohol and drugs are victims,” the SP observed. “To get rid of these social evils, hard work and sincerity on the part of the police force, collective efforts from civil societies, CBOs and political will be needed,” he said.
The new SP has urged the district’s people to cooperate with the police in confronting the issues.
