Aalo, Jul 19: Setting an example of innovative approach in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, inhabitants of the thickly populated Kambu village, located on the right bank of Yomgo river has made a Quarantine Centre (QC) through renovation of the existing village school purely on self-help basis.
The centre having separate toilet and bathroom facilities is capable of accommodating all the returnees of the village from the state capital and other districts with a provision for fooding either by the inmates’ parents or by village community at a minimal rate. The villagers have appealed to the administration and doctors to take up the responsibility to provide testing kits, PPE, medicines and timely medical check-up of the quarantined inmates. Medical Officer Kamba, Dr. Kengam Ninu disclosed he is monitoring the QC personally and supervising the sanitation and health aspects.
West Siang DC Moki Loyi while appreciating the villagers for planning such a systematic approach, opined that other villages of the district must also follow the example to supplement Team West Siang’s fight against the pandemic. District Administration alone cannot overcome the Covid challenge unless society as a whole extends support and cooperation, he added. DIPRO
