AALO, Feb 22: Deputy Commissioner West Siang, Penga Tato and DMO Dr. Dubom Bagra flagged off vehicles meant for the National TB Elimination Programme with the motto TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a Jan Andolan campaign under the aegis of "TB Harega Desh Jeetega" at TB hospital premises today.

Referring to statistics on TB ailment which is high, the DC said that in this age of medical science, effort should be made by the medical department to trace out the causes based on food habits and lifestyles of the people so that proper awareness can be given in the long run. The Abhiyan should keep in touch with the administrative officers for help and assistance, he said.
The DMO stressed on giving training to ASHAs and said that effort should be made to touch the remotest villages so that the ailment is eradicated by 2025 as per the directive of the government.
Dr. Vivek Singh disclosed that 100 districts are targeted in 100 days and West Siang is the seventh district to be covered under the programme. The DTO disclosed that out of 1156 tests carried so far, 117 people in 2020, 156 in 2021 and 15 positive cases of TB in two months in 2022 were found in the district. DIPRO
