Bomdila, Dec 8: In the run-up to the Covid-19 vaccination drive in West Kameng, a District Task Force (DTF) meeting to review its preparedness and the Routine Immunization (RI) performance was held today here at the DC’s conference hall under chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki.
DRCHO Dr Namsa narrated the entire process of COVID-19 vaccination right from storage to distribution, detailing the statuses of all Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the district and General Hospital, Bomdila. Dr Namsa informed that in the first phase only the frontline healthcare workers will be vaccinated for which a total of 1316 beneficiaries have been identified, adding that the said vaccination drive will be conducted in 4 Blocks covering 11 Health Facility Centres including private clinics. A team of 42 doctors and 108 nurses will monitor the proceedings and there will be 121 sessions to distribute the vaccine in the district.
The DRCHO further informed that till November, Ante Natal Care (ANC) has successfully covered 946 intended recipients out of its annual target of 1082, which is 87% in total and in terms of Full Immunization (FI), 947 out of the annual target of 1165 has been covered, which in terms of percentage is 81 %. The DC asked the District Medical Department to check whether all the CHCs and PHCs have been equipped with the required equipment like ILR, deep freezers, cold boxes, vaccine carriers, power backup facilities etc. without which the COVID vaccination process may face hiccups. Stressing on improving the district’s RI performance, he urged the MO I/cs, nurses, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers to achieve the target by December 2020 as per the deadline set by the government.
