RUPA, Apr 6: To educate people about general disaster preparedness, District Disaster Management Authority here in West Kameng District launched a week’s long Capacity building cum awareness campaign on various disasters like fire safety, earthquake, flash flood, landslide etc.
The first day of the campaign was organized at the Rupa Township and it will cover Bhalukpong, Singchung, Kalaktang, Dirang, Nafra, Thrizino and Balemu.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Rupa, Suraj Gurung said that impact of any calamity could be reduced to a large extent if people are made aware of general disaster preparedness and safety tips. People should be aware of the disaster management techniques so that they could protect themselves during disasters.
In-charge District Disaster Management Officer, explained to the participants about disaster preparedness and safety tips to reduce the extent of disaster.
Former ZPC, members of Thukpen Village Councils and Women’s Welfare Association, Rupa also spoke on the occasion.
Awareness on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” was also delivered on the occasion.
Fire & Emergency Service Unit, Bomdila, PRI leaders, GBs, NGOs, Youth Organizations, along with all the HoDs attended the programme.
