SINGCHUNG, Jun 12: Following the report of an asymptomatic COVID-19 positive case of an army medical officer of MH Dahung, the Singchung Sub-division and Health department today swung into action to work out modalities and further course of action for management of the patient and areas to be contained.
DMO Dr. D Wange briefing on the sampling process and the SOPs in place clarified that the containment of local area and contacts was not required since the infection was acquired from outside having travel history.
All the known high risk contacts were taken into facility quarantine and surveillance of the remaining contacts would be carried out and further contact tracing should be continued, he added.
Capt (Dr) Vivek PD 181 MH Dahung informed that the positive patient has been shifted to the Covid Care Center, MH Dahung and put in strict isolation and his family under home quarantine. He also informed that the primary and secondary contacts have been segregated and kept in barracks in strict quarantine.
However, he admitted that breach of home quarantine SOPs by the positive case and the army quarantine team did happen but assured that henceforth every care would be taken in future.
DSO Dr. SK Thungon taking serious note of the casual approach of the positive patient in particular and the army quarantine team in general exhorted the army authorities to be cautious and follow the SOPs in the strictest of terms in future.
The army authorities informed that two other positive patients have been shifted to 405 Field Hospital Rupa. It was also informed that line listing and contact tracing of the two cases was under process.
ADC S Gurung directed the army doctors for coordinating, sharing and updating information on all issues related to COVID-19 with the civil administration without fail.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki has issued an advisory for civilians to avoid going to Tenga Army Cantonment area especially to the 405 Field Hospital, Birpur, 181 MH area and Chindit Top Army Cantonment area.
Civilians have been advised not to stop within the Army Cantonment areas while plying their vehicles on the BCT road for any purpose. Visit to Army CSD canteens, Tenga Hut shopping complex and army shopping complexes has also been banned until further orders. Further, spitting in public places has been strictly prohibited and wearing of mask has been made mandatory. DIPRO
