Aalo, Jul 17: In view of the alarming spike of Covid-19 positive cases in the state capital and neighbouring districts and continuing inflow of returnees in huge numbers to the district, the West Siang District Administration on Friday announced a weeklong complete lockdown in the district starting July 20.
The decision was unanimously taken in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi and attended by ATPWDS, market committees, NGOs, APWWS, Galo Ane, Magistrates, police and Nodal Officers.
Essential services and on-duty government vehicles have been kept outside the purview of the lockdown. All the district’s citizens currently outside have been appealed not to enter the district during the pandemic unless necessitated under compelling circumstances.  All returnees coming into the district will also have to undergo compulsory quarantine in paid quarantine centres from the date of issue of the order, i.e. July 17.

The DC, SP, DMO and DDMO highlighted the activities being carried out to contain the spread of the virus. Frontline workers are working round the clock and the DA has sought cooperation from the district’s civil society, NGOs and organizations in the ongoing battle against the pandemic. DIPRO
