Rono Hills, Sep 26: A weeklong film festival on the life of Mahatma Gandhi got underway here at the Rajiv Gandhi University from Saturday.The festival is a part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of the Father of the Nation and the closing ceremony will be held on October 2.
Inaugurating the opening session as Chief Guest, RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha called upon the present generation to fulfil the dreams of the Mahatma of a free and self-reliant India. Registrar Dr. NT Rikam observed that the best way of paying homage to the Mahatma is through emulating his ideals. Pro VC Professor Amitava Mitra spoke on the relevance of Gandhi’s teachings in the present world.
The weeklong film festival is a blended one and will be available in RGU website rgu.ac.in and the films are supported by the Films Division of India, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. RGU PR
