HAYULIANG, Oct 18: In an effort to mitigate water scarcity in Hayuliang township area of Anjaw district, PHED-Hayuliang division successfully constructed a water treatment plant under Jal Jeevan Mission.
While elaborating about the project, Assistant Engineer, PHED-Hayuliang, G Riba informed that due to scarcity of water in the town, the department has initiated water treatment plant under Jal Jeevan Mission, a project of the Central government to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household taps in rural areas.
The water treatment plant will provide potable water to at least 2000 population of Hayuliang town. With a 50,000-litre capacity and constructed with a cost of Rs 150 lakh, the WTP was sanctioned in the 2019-20 financial year. The project was supposed to complete in March this year but due to the lockdown announced in view of the pandemic, the project got delayed.
"Now the project is completed and every household under Hayuliang Township will get safe and adequate drinking water through this water treatment plant," said the officer while appreciating the contractor for completing the project on time.
