YUPIA, Apr 13: ‘Jal Shakti Kendra’ for Papum Pare District under Jal Shakti Abhiyan- Catch the Rain 2022 was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Minga Sherpa at the Water Resource Department office here at Yupia today in presence of Member Secretary WRD Executive Engineer Er. Nabam Ayung.
The DC said that Jal Shakti Kendra will act as a knowledge centre for dissemination of information to the public related to water conservation and technical guidance on appropriate rain water harvesting structures. It will also function as a support centre for District administration on water related issues including the plan preparation.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Sherpa also chaired the District Level Water Conservation Committee meeting to discuss the implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan-Catch the Rain '2022 in Papum Pare District and highlighted various aspects of JSA. He also elucidated roles and responsibility of members of DLWCC pertaining to water conservations and urged upon them to identify water bodies and to submit their conservation plans to Nodal department WRD Yupia. He also emphasised on identification of blocks especially in Doimukh and Kakoi circles where there is a report of depleting water resources and feasibility of retrofitting official buildings and government quarters with rain water harvesting structures at district headquarters Yupia.
