PASIGHAT, Aug 3: With the aim of making students a part of the of the efforts to keep the school premises waste-free, a ‘Waste Material Recycle Laboratory was inaugurated today here at the at IGJ Government Higher Secondary School by the Deputy Deputy Commissioner, East Siang Dr. Kinny Singh.
The recycle lab is an innovative concept conceived by the DC who stated that it was a humble beginning to make the school waste-free and expressed hope that the process of transforming waste materials into useful purposes after recycling would reduce pollution and make the students messengers of a waste-free society. School systems should be proactive with their recycling and waste management programmes should be part of the curriculum, she opined. “It is a fantastic way to teach students how reducing, reusing and recycling wastes could make a difference to their school, community and the environment as a whole. A small effort in this regard by each individual could make a huge difference and therefore, the school authority has to educate the students and staff about its recycling methods,” DC asserted.
DDSE J. Yirang stated that it was a very impressive step and would be introduced in other Higher Secondary schools of the district too. Principal of the school Tatem Taloh, Principal DIET Biren Dutta were among others present on the occasion. DIPRO
