PASIGHAT, Jul 12: The Women Against Social Evils (WASE) has questioned the authorities for issuing a Character & Antecedents certificate to Ashok Kumar Subba, proprietor of M/s Tsong Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. as resident of Niglok village.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Pasighat on Tuesday, WASE which has been fighting tooth and nail against setting up of IMFL distillation unit at Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok under Ruksin Sub-Division have raised doubt over the intention of the state government to push through the project at any manner despite repeated pleas.

WASE has questioned as to why Subba was given character certificate while citing him as a resident of Niglok village whereas he is not. “AK Subba is a resident of Sikkim and how can OC Ruksin verify and DySP (HQ) issue certificate citing him to be a resident of Niglok village, questioned General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong.

When contacted OC Ruksin, T Tamut, said that it was a mere forwarding from his side to the higher office and issuing of certificate depends on Head office. On the question of whether Subba really resides in Niglok village as mentioned in the certificate, Tamut tried to clarify that, an application came from a local representative/associate of Subba citing that he has been visiting Niglok and Pasighat occasionally though he doesn’t have any residence at Niglok. DySP A. Taying couldn’t be contacted for his official response.
