WAKRO, Oct 7: The people of Wakro Circle in Lohit district have raised their voice for an immediate inclusion of autopsy, morgue and embalming facilities at CHC Wakro and PHC Medo.
Although the above demands have been raised by the locals several times in the past, the facilities are still being awaited at the health centres since their inception. According to CHC Wakro, every postmortem case has to be referred to the District Hospital Tezu which involves a lot of time and expenditure for covering a distance of 65 km. “If the autopsies are done at the health centres itself, it would be a great relief to the people of the area, police and the health department. Sometimes, due to rush at the District Hospital Tezu, police have to wait for a whole day for a simple postmortem,” one of the sources said.
“It is virtually an uphill task for us to get postmortem reports of cases from Wakro and Medo. The CHC and PHC invariably refer such cases to the District Hospital resulting in wastage of time and money which could have been saved had there been facilities here,” OC Wakro PS Inspector Thomas Pertin said.
