TAWANG, Nov 22: Minister for Home and Urban Development, Kumar Waii today graced the national convention on “strong and secured border a way to a secured, cultured and developed nation,” as chief guest her at the Kalawangpo convention hall. The convention is conducted by Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch under the presidentship of Indreshji Kumar who is also the founding president of BTSM. As a part of the annual programme, this year too Tawang tirth yatra was carried out.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “We have a long history of trade with Tibet. To secure our country we must have a strong and secured border.”
Stating that the state and union governments is striving for the development of border areas, the minister also appreciated the Brokpas, the nomadic yak and sheep grazers of the highlands for their role as sentinels.
“We have to provide good facilities to our Brokpas because since time immemorial they have been protecting our borders by continuously moving from one area to another,” he said.
Waii also invited the national media to come to the border areas and cover the hardships faced by the local residents. “In spite of many hardships the people of Arunachal never fail to show their patriotism and commitment towards Mother India. The people of our state use national language Hindi as medium of conversation,” he added.
Earlier, more than 375 pilgrims from across 20 states of the country participated in a peace march before the convention started.
The convention was also attended by Karma Yeshi, Minister of Finance, Tibetan Govt in Exile, former MP RK Khrimey, former ministers Tsering Gyurmey, DK Thongdok and Naresh Glow including many.
