ITANAGAR, Apr 24: Former Home Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) MLA candidate, Kumar Waii has alleged that the ruling state BJP government has used money and muscle power to win in the election.
“This election was one of the costliest elections of the state where unaccounted money has been used to lure voters,” said Waii. Speaking to reporters, Waii stated “BJP, a party who talks and campaigns about the elimination of money culture in the election is itself encouraging it. Seizing of huge cash from the vehicles of Chief Minister’s convoy at Pasighat is one of the examples and indeed there are more such cases where cash had been seized or transferred to various constituencies misusing government machinery.”
Waii also added that he has written a letter to the Chief Secretary seeking information about the financial status of the state. In election, the ruling party is using huge money and on other hand, reports say that the contractors and others establishments are not getting their due payments from the government despite the issuance of LOC (Letter of Credit), he alleged.
As per norms, government cheques are valid up to only April 30 and now only six days are left but the department is yet to release any fund to the contractors and other establishments, stated the former Home Minister while claiming that public are being befooled by the government on pretext of elections.
Waii also questioned the government on the status of the fund amounting to Rs 800 crore earmarked for various schemes under SIDF and other schemes. Despite the sanction of the amount, the government is yet to float tender against various projects. Moreover, if needed government can divert the fund from Plan Head to Non-Plan Head and hence the concerned department has to clarify how much fund has been diverted to Non-Plan Head,  the former minister demanded.
The government should give clarification to the public regarding the financial position of the state within a week and how much amount has been used in the election process. If the government fails to do so, the incumbent Chief Minister Pema Khandu should resign from the post, Waii remarked.
