Itanagar, Oct 10: ​Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Biyuram Wahge chaired a state level meeting to review and assess the status of Maternal Health and examine the findings of recent maternal deaths across the state today which was organised by the National Health Mission, Naharlagun.
The meeting was convened in the presence of Advisor to Minister Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mohesh Chai and attended by Director Health Services, Director Family Welfare, Mission Director, National Health Mission, District Medical officers along with Gynaecologists from all the districts, senior officers and staff of the Mission Directorate. 
​The Minister expressed deep concern over the reported recent maternal deaths across the state. He reviewed in detail the causes and contributing factors that have led to avoidable maternal deaths in various districts.
​He emphasized the need for proper coordination between inter-departments of health to ensure a seamless and timely response in case of maternal health emergencies. He urged all the doctors and healthcare professionals to uphold their morale and continue working with dedication and compassion.
​Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai in his address, urged the doctors and healthcare workers to develop meaningful relationships with patients, treating each case with empathy and care, not just focusing on procedures. He further advised all health personnel to maintain calm, patience, and professionalism, especially during high-pressure situations.
​To ensure ongoing accountability and improvement, the Advisor directed all districts to conduct internal maternal health reviews every month, involving all relevant officials. These reviews must focus on each maternal death, identify root causes, and take timely corrective action.
​Dr. Mohesh Chai also gave away certificates to the districts with State certification for NQAS and LaQshya. The districts certified are Upper Siang, Namsai, West Siang, Leparada, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, PapumPare and Lohit.
