YACHULI, Apr 17: State BJP President and Pakke Kessang MLA Biyuram Wahge has appealed to the state’s farming community to strive for economic Atma Nirbharta (self-reliance).
Waghe made the appeal today while addressing a group of farmers in a function organised by the Green Gold Company wherein saplings of Lalit variety guava were distributed to them. Stating that last year’s pandemic has been an eye-opener for the state regarding the need to become self-reliant in terms of food requirements, the State BJP President  appealed all to exercise caution to thwart the second wave.
The company’s MD Likha Maj informed that since the last two years he has been supplying free Lalit guava saplings to the state’s farmers and the produce will be taken by him as an input for food processing activities in the upcoming Mega Food Park. “This is a beginning and I have been creating awareness and campaigning among the farmers of several districts to go for planting fruit-bearing plants,” Maj informed.
Several industries have expressed their willingness to start production in the food park and there will be a need for huge quantities of raw materials and for the state’s farming community it’s a great opportunity to become the suppliers of raw fruits and explore new routes of income generation, Maj said, adding that technical experts will extend necessary guidance to them.
Later, Wahge visited the BJP Mandal office here and urged the party karyakartas to coordinate with the administration in fighting the pandemic.
